Elementary

Celebrating Our Catholic Faith

Elementary students in grades 3, 4 and 5 meet on Wednesday evenings for interactive learning and living the Christian Catholic Faith, based on the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Please see the Faith Formation calendar for specific times/details.

We use Discover! Finding Faith in Life curriculum from Saint Mary’s Press. Students learn how to read the bible, discuss scripture passages and deepen their understanding of the Mass.

From Saint Mary’s Press….“Our founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle, believed that God’s word is powerful in touching hearts. We still believe that today, which is why we’ve created a faith formation program that puts The Catholic Children’s Bible at the center. Watch as they connect the dots and transform a learned faith into a joyfully lived faith!”

Each lesson focuses on a specific pillar of the catechism and includes catechism references for the teachers, a scripture focus and opportunities for the children to use their Bibles, discussion and engaging activities to get the kids moving as they learn about our faith.

Grade 3 children will learn about our life in the church, how we are one in faith and that we are sent out into the world to live as Jesus’ disciples and spread the Good News.  Grade 4 will learn about our covenant with God, Jesus in the new covenant and how we live the covenant.  Grade 5 will learn about the Holy Spirit and how Jesus calls us and heals us.  There will also be timely liturgical season lessons throughout the year for these upper elementary students.

We know that parents are the first and most important teachers of our faith.  Parents appreciate the “Family Page” provided for each lesson.  Each family page includes background reflection on the scripture passage, family activities, a story about a saint and a prayer.

Please use the “REGISTRATION” link from the Faith Formation dropdown menu to register. Only one online form per family is necessary.
