A Sacristans prepares the worship space for Mass and serves as a liaison for the presiding priest. He or she serves “behind the scenes” to assist in helping everyone have a good experience at Mass.
- What are the duties of a Sacristan?
  A Sacristan serves by unlocking the church doors, turning on the lights, readying the Altar for the celebration of the Eucharist, and making sure that the liturgical ministers are present and ready to serve for the Mass. Sacristans are commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and will sometimes assist with Communion at Mass.
  Training is provided and newly trained Sacristans are welcome to shadow “seasoned” Sacristans as they become part of this team of ministers.
