When the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is given, the hoped-for effect is that, if it be God's will, the person be physically healed of illness. But even if there is no healing, the primary effect of the Sacrament is a spiritual healing by which the sick person receives the Holy Spirit's gift of peace and the courage to deal with the difficulties that accompany serious illness or the frailty of old age.
Most hospitals have a priest chaplain assigned to the hospital. Ask a nurse to have the priest chaplain paged for any spiritual guidance or Sacramental needs. If there is no assigned priest chaplain, we encourage you to call the Catholic Church that is closest to the hospital of admittance.
Anointing of the Sick is available upon request from the priest at St. Dominic. Please call the Parish Office to arrange a visit. Please contact Nancy Ludescher. Parish Nurse, for information at 507-645-8816 ext 203 or [email protected].
If you are in the immediate need of an anointing, please call 507-645-8816 (24hrs.) and press 6.
